Costa Rica is popular for its eco-tourism. On our first day, we decided to go on one of the many canopy
tours that were offered in the area. It was pretty fun zipping accross the tree tops. First, we had to climb up a rope ladder
to get to our first platform.
Next, we zip lined accross the canopy to the next platform. I believe the highest up we were was about
300 feet.
With us that day were three guides, to help tie up ropes, secure us to our equipment, and show us what to do.
We also met Steve and Laura from Omaha that day. They were on vacation celebrating the fact that all their daughters had finally left
the nest. They were on the same itinerary as us pretty much throughout the whole Costa Rican trip, so we saw them pretty much
every place we went. They were a lot of fun.
Here, we had to repell down about 30 feet to a platform below.
Seen here is a group picture of some of us - Steve's wife Laura actually got scared at the last minute and
had to turn back, so she's not seen here. We ended the zipline tour on a REALLY LONG zip line down the mountain side - I'd say about
200 yards or so. I would highly recommend one of the tours if you're ever in CR. The more platforms, the better!
