We got to San Jose around 1:30 in the afternoon, where we were met at the airport by Pookie, Kookie, Bookie - we couldn't quite tell what his name was. And since he didn't speak english very well we never really found out. The drive to Arinal Volcano took almost 4 hours.

The countryside was beautiful, very green and lush. We drove up through the mountains on some fairly narrow roads, and stopped on the edge of a coffee field, where Laurie sampled some "fresh" coffee beans.

We also stopped off in a quint little town with a beautiful garden that sets in front of a church. I forget what the name of the place was though.

When we stopped at a roadside restaurant for a bathroom break, I saw one of those African cave dwelling spiders that you may have seen the contestants of the show "Fear Factor" eat. Unfortunatly, I didn't get a picture though (would have looked a bit wierd taking a picture of a bug in a bathroom I guess).

We arrived at Tabacon Resort and Spa in a downpour! Was this a sign of things to come???
